Why site attendance is hard
- There is no fixed gate, and the site boundary changes as the work moves
- Most of the workforce comes through subcontractors, each with its own headcount claim
- Sites open and close over the life of a project
- Connectivity at remote sites is patchy
- Supervisors keep attendance on paper and send it in at the end of the week
How Ankastra handles it
| Problem | What Ankastra does |
|---|---|
| No fixed gate | A tablet in kiosk mode at the site office, or geo-fenced mobile check-in with a selfie |
| Patchy connectivity | The kiosk app captures punches offline and syncs when the line returns |
| Several subcontractors | One roster, with each subcontractor's headcount and bill reconciled against attendance |
| Sites that open and close | Each site set up as a unit, reported on its own and rolled up across sites (Growth) |
| Paper registers sent weekly | Attendance visible at head office as it is recorded |
Compliance
Construction workers were covered by the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, which is now consolidated into the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. The Labour Codes came into force on 21 November 2025 and states are notifying their rules on different dates. Whatever your state requires, the registers start from an attendance record that shows who worked, where and when, which is what Ankastra keeps.
What it costs
Face recognition attendance, shifts and leave are in every plan, from ₹2,999 a month for 50 employees. Device integration, multi-location roll-ups and canteen and visitor modules are in Growth, from ₹5,999. Statutory payroll is in Pro, from ₹9,999. Annual billing takes 15% off, and GST is charged on top. The pricing calculator works out your headcount.
Questions people ask
Can workers punch without their own smartphone?
Yes. A shared tablet in kiosk mode at the site office runs face recognition for everyone, so workers do not need their own phones.
How does geo-fenced check-in work?
A mobile check-in records the GPS location and a selfie, and is checked against the boundary set for the site, so a punch from somewhere else is visible as such.
Can we see attendance by site and by subcontractor?
Yes. Each site is a unit and each subcontractor's workers are grouped on the roster, so you can report on either.
