Why hospital attendance is different
- Every department runs 24x7 on its own roster
- Night shifts that end the next morning, every day of the year
- Nursing, technicians, housekeeping and security on different shift patterns, and often different employers
- Infection control, which favours touchless attendance over shared fingerprint readers
- Visitors, vendors and attendants coming through the same entrances as staff
Rostering a department that never closes
A hospital ward has no quiet shift. The roster has to cover every hour of every day, staff rotate between day and night, and a nurse who finishes at 8 am has worked a shift that began the previous evening. If the attendance system splits that shift across two dates, the timesheet shows a short day followed by an absence, and someone has to correct it by hand before payroll.
Ankastra resolves each punch against the shift it belongs to, so a night shift is one working day however late it ends. Late marks and missed punches are flagged per department before the month closes, so ward managers correct exceptions while they still remember them, not when payroll asks.
What Ankastra does in a hospital
- Department-wise shifts and attendance, including shifts that cross midnight
- Touchless face recognition at staff entrances, on a tablet locked in kiosk mode
- Contracted housekeeping and security on the same roster, with each vendor's bill reconciled against attendance
- Comp off credited automatically when staff cover a holiday or a weekly off, with expiry windows
- Visitor management from Growth: pre-registration, photo capture, host notification and badge printing

Questions people ask
